    Morro Bay is a picturesque coastal city in San Luis Obispo County, California, is known for its natural beauty and Offshore Wind lease area and proposed large scale battery storage project. As of 2023, the city boasts a population of 10,835. Morro Bay's economy is marked by a diverse array of approximately two thousand licensed businesses.

    Role Overview:
    The CEO is the chief executive officer of the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce, responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of the organization’s activities. This role demands a dynamic, innovative, and community-focused individual who can drive economic growth and integrity of the organization.

    Key Responsibilities:
    1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors, aligning with the Chamber's mission and the community's economic goals.
    2. Community Engagement: Serve as a primary liaison between the Chamber, local businesses, government agencies, and the community to foster strong relationships and promote economic development.
    3. Membership Growth: Actively pursue membership growth strategies to enhance the Chamber's influence and resources.
    4. Advocacy: Advocate for local business interests at municipal, state, and federal levels, ensuring that the needs of Morro Bay's business community are addressed.
    5. Event Management: Oversee the planning and execution of community events and business networking opportunities to promote member engagement.
    6. Financial Management: Manage the Chamber's budget, ensuring financial stability and transparency.
    7. Marketing and Public Relations: Promote the Morro Bay Chamber as a premier membership association with key resources and connections.
    8. Staff Leadership: Lead and mentor the Chamber staff, fostering a collaborative, productive, and positive work environment.
    Required Skills and Qualifications:
    • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, preferably within a chamber of commerce, nonprofit, or community organization.
    • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
    • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans that effectively address the needs of the business community and the broader interests of Morro Bay.
    • Relationship Building: Strong networking skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
    • Financial Acumen: Experience in budget management and financial planning.
    • Marketing and PR: Knowledge of modern marketing strategies, including digital marketing and social media.
    • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing economic and community landscapes, with a keen understanding of local, regional, and national economic and political trends.
    • Education and Experience:
    • Experience in a leadership role, with a preference for experience in a chamber of commerce, economic development, or community organization.
