• 2024 Business of the Year: The Bay Theatre

    A cherished fixture in Morro Bay for over 100 years, The Bay Theatre has been revitalized under the leadership of Cameron Wilson, whose vision goes far beyond film. Since its reopening in 2023, the theatre has become a hub for community fundraising, arts education, and nonprofit collaboration — raising thousands for local causes through creative programming and partnerships. With a commitment to accessible entertainment and heartfelt giving, The Bay Theatre exemplifies what it means to be a business with purpose.

    2024 Nonprofit of the Year: The Community Foundation of Estero Bay

    For over three decades, this all-volunteer nonprofit has ensured that children across Morro Bay, Los Osos, Cayucos, and Cambria can participate in sports and enrichment activities—regardless of their families’ financial means. With over $650,000 raised since 1992 and a growing reach, the Community Foundation of Estero Bay continues to uplift youth through scholarships, community connection, and a deep belief in equity and access for all.

    2024 Citizen of the Year: Linda Winters

    With over 20 years of service at the Morro Bay Natural History Museum, Linda Winters has given more than 9,000 volunteer hours to education, environmental stewardship, and compassionate service. Through the Morro Bay Lions Club, Meals on Wheels, flood recovery advocacy, and housing rights efforts, Linda is a tireless force for good whose kindness and activism uplift the entire community.

    2024 Living Treasure: Ray McKelvey

    A true pillar of the community, Ray McKelvey is honored as Morro Bay’s 2024 Living Treasure. Ray has long supported local causes with wisdom, humility, and dedication—nurturing community initiatives and preserving the city’s cultural and civic values. His quiet leadership and unwavering heart have made a lasting impact on generations of Morro Bay residents.

    New for 2024, the Luminary Award honors an outstanding public servant whose behind-the-scenes work has made a lasting impact on the Morro Bay community.

    2024 Luminary Award: Dana Swanson

    As City Clerk, Dana Swanson has played a vital role in maintaining transparency and public trust in local government. She has formed strong partnerships with the businesses and citizens of Morro Bay. From managing legislative records and elections to supporting council policy and compliance, Dana’s behind-the-scenes leadership keeps Morro Bay running smoothly. Her commitment to public service and democratic integrity makes her a shining example of what it means to serve with excellence.
